Girl Get Your Butt in a Small Group

Dear Sister,

Proverbs 18:1, “Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgement.” When you are on your own, isolated from the body of Christ, isolated from other believers, it is a whole lot easier for you to get attacked. Think about how many animals travel in packs. A pack of elephants can be intimidating for a predator, but a baby elephant stranded and caught off guard with no one to protect, warn, or help him… well, that my dear, is an easy target. Do not allow yourself to be secluded from the pack. You NEED to find other girls who are seeking God to be friends with. You need friends who will keep you accountable. There will be times when you are going to need your sister in Christ to sit you down and say “stop doing that! This is not who you are!” There will be moments when you will need a woman of God in your life to help direct you.

I am telling you this with such urgency because I have been there. I have been in a spot where I was not in a small group, where I didn’t have the privilege of having Godly women in my life who would tell me to knock it off. There was a point in my life where I desperately needed someone to tell me to stop it. To tell me “NO, ASHLEY BREANEE THIS IS NOT WHO YOU ARE! YOU ARE NOT WALKING IN A MANNER WORTHY OF YOUR CALLING.” My dear sister, I urge you to be wise and build a community around you of other believers. Spend time spiritually investing in your friends, and look for other women in your church, or even in your community, that can help guide you. Don’t think that spending time alone with God is enough. I was spending time with God everyday while still making some of the biggest mistakes of my life. Although it is so important that you do have your alone time with God, God also calls us into community. Ecclesiastes 4:9 states, “two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.  But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up.” Woe to me sister, I could have saved myself so much guilt, pain, and sorrow if I had simply followed the wise words of Ecclesiastes. I pray that you will not make the same mistake. Remember, following God and His call on your life is a threat to the devil and he will do everything to make you stumble. Make sure that you prepare for his attacks. Spend time DAILY with God and girl, get your butt in a small group.

XOXO,

   Ash
